To me, it is saying that with an education you can bring about change in this world. People should take advantage of their education because they never know how far they can go with it. Your education equals power because no one can take that away from you. If there is something you want to do in order to make this world a better place, your education will pave a path for you to do what every you put your mind to.

I really like the way Nelson Mandela used the word weapon to describe education. We need to redefine this word. Nelson Mandela turned weapon, into a positive force for change. That's amazing, innovative, truly great thinking. We all need to think like this. Education is so important, and should be an opportunity for all. And should be the only weapon humankind invests in. I totally agree with you Stephanie great quote.

I think Nelson Mandela is saying that education is the most influencial aspect of any individual's desire to change the world. He is not saying that it is the only thing we can use, but that it is the most important. Through education, the other "weapons" will be strengthened and better able to assist us in the changes we want to make. Education should be the start, the vehicle, and the backbone of everything we seek to achieve. Without it, we may fall short of the success we hope to see.

Yes education can change the world, but you must also know how to put it to use. Or as Stalin would put it: "Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed."

Education is not only a weapon it is a virtue you can carry with you no matter what happens to you in life... when you are educated the whole world respects you, not for what you have but for who you are.

This quote should be a daily mantra to all youth, especially here in South Africa. Anyone, especially in this day and age who takes for granted the importance of education is a sorry excuse for a living organism.

The reason why poverty is all over the world, in developing countries and the underdeveloped countries is caused by the income gap which is caused by the degree of skills of the people in that specific country has accumulated, meaning that, the higher the degree of skills - the higher the income which automatically will result in people with no skills will have an income under the breadline. this means that, to bridge the gap we need education to accumulate the type of skills we are interested in.
